LDAS, Regina - ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY
Technology fills our world, today. So, why not take advantage of its benefits for those with disabilities? We can help.
Assistive technologies are many and varied.
Assistance for those with learning disabilities is varied. It could be as simple as regular use of a calculator - on the job or at school. A talking dictionary, Franklin, can be a great help with spelling and learning new vocabulary. Our lab computers are outfitted with the WYNN program; it reads text, and can be used to browse the Internet! A new, portable device called Key to Access plugs in to many computers and provides a number of assistive applications including a Talking Word Processor! Software can be used to help you organize a report or get your thoughts down on paper.
We can show you many of these items, right in our building. Clients in our programs will use these on a regular basis.
If you have plans to go back to school, furthering your education, there may be government grants to help you to get the assistive technology you need to be successful. We can advise you on what steps to take if you are eligible. Our office has helped many clients to take advantage of the programs available.
If you are interested in learning more about assistive technologies that can help you in compensating for your learning disabilities, please contact us. We will be happy to give you all the help that we can!
