Summer
Sunshine Camp

Every summer, during July and August, we run three, two-week day camps. The camps are for any child ages 7 to 12 years old. They can spend the days with other kids, doing interesting and exciting activities - and still sleep in their own bed each night.

Our camps are directed by an experienced teacher. We also have enthusiastic counselors to work with the campers.

Mornings will be spent in small groups. Campers will be involved in a number of activities. Reading and writing skills will be one focus, with fun activities used. A similar approach is used to expand skills in mathematics. There will be scheduled computer time which is used to reinforce a number of their skills. Crafts, coloring and painting are always a big part of the morning's events!

In the afternoons, the fun continues. The time will be less structured, and used for a variety of explorations and trips. Field trips may include such places as the Science Center, Candy Cane Park, the Royal Saskatchewan Museum, and the Bird Sanctuary. This non-academic time is great for making new friends, playing, and just plain having fun!

Everyone deserves a summer break. Our academic times are meant to reinforce what children have already learned in their school year. The emphasis is on solidifying their learning - this is not a way to catch up in program or curricula.

By using what they know in new and interesting ways, the campers will be in good shape to carry on in school in the fall where they left off in June.
